How the LifeFit Matrix™ Works

The LifeFit Matrix looks at five basic psychological needs: Safety & Security, Significance, Freedom, Connection, and Joy.

What makes the Matrix different is that it looks at each need in two ways.

Need Strength

Need Strength reflects how important a particular need tends to be for you. Some needs naturally carry more weight than others, and those patterns may remain relatively stable over time.

Need Satisfaction

Need Satisfaction reflects how well that need is currently being satisfied in your life. Satisfaction can change as relationships, work, health, responsibilities, opportunities, and other life circumstances change.

The LifeFit Matrix brings these two dimensions together.

A need can be very strong and highly satisfied. That same strong need can also be poorly satisfied. A lower-strength need may be adequately satisfied without requiring much attention, while another need may be receiving considerable time and energy even though it is not one of your strongest needs.

Seeing the relationship between the two can help you understand where your life fits well, where tension may be coming from, and where you might consider different choices.

Your Needs May Stay Stable, but How Well They’re Satisfied Can Change

Your underlying pattern of need strength may remain relatively stable over time, while how well those needs are satisfied can change as your relationships, work, health, responsibilities, opportunities, and other life circumstances change.

A period of lower satisfaction does not necessarily mean that your basic needs have changed. It may mean that changes in your circumstances have made a particular need more difficult to satisfy than it was in the past.

Understanding the difference between need strength and need satisfaction is one of the reasons the LifeFit Matrix looks at both.

Your Matrix Is Information, Not a Prescription

There is no ideal LifeFit profile and no correct way your five needs should look.

Your results are information.

They can help you notice patterns, ask better questions, and consider whether your current choices and circumstances are working for you. What you do with that information remains entirely up to you.

Want to Explore Your Results More Deeply?

Your LifeFit Matrix is designed to give you information, not tell you what to do. If you would like support understanding the patterns in your results and considering how they may be showing up in your life, you can schedule a LifeFit Results Session.

The conversation is exploratory and individualized. What you choose to do with the information remains entirely up to you.
